"Overnight Sensation"

by Jammy (@_jamsy)

All that time it had never occurred to me just how vulnerable you were, how fragile the situation was

Externally, you acted like clockwork

With your quick wit, persona etcetera

How no one picked up on it sooner I don't know

Up there, on those big TV screens,

you were the big fish in the small pond,

swimming lap after lap while the whole world was watching

But you outgrew the pond,

Suddenly you wanted an ocean

You wanted houses, jewelery

programmes

But it didn't feel like enough... right? like you were still in shallow waters

On paper, you were rich but

mentally, you were homeless

You were wearing rags and living in a dump 'till the day you died

But when your time came, when your run was finished

no one knew

They plastered your face on headlines and papers and that was that

And when I found out, my tears fell like a million diamonds

But none of them could buy you back

"The Richest Poor Person I Ever Knew"

That's how I remember you
